Getting Started - Setting up Your Blog

Once you've registered for BlogByVideo, and clicked the Submit Button, you will be taken to the Profile page. On this page you
will setup your profile. Fill in the information to be included in your blog. Fields without an * do not have to be included - these are
optional.
Fill out the Profile as follows:
The fields starting with Username and ending with Country will already be filled out on the form - this information is taken from
the registration form already filled out.
Age: If you want to include your age type it here.
My Status: Use the drop down box and pick one of the options, single, married, seeing someone or rather not say.
Gender: Male or Female
About Me: Describe yourself here. This will appear on your blog so other bloggers can read a little about you.
My Interests: In this section, you can list your interests. List the words with a comma in between each word. As an example you're interested in cooking and snow boarding. List cooking,
snow boarding, etc. By setting up the list in this way you can find other bloggers with the same interests as you.
My Favorite Links: You can add or delete your favorites here. Put in a link to your friends blog, or just a site of interest. If
you want to delete it just choose the link from the list, highlight it and click Delete This Favorite. To add a new link, type it in the box provided and click
Add New Favorite.
Upload Picture: If you would like to have a picture on your blog of you or any other picture you want to
share (this picture will be over the information about you) then click the browse button. When you have found the picture you want, click open and
then it will be added to your site. You can change this at any time by going back to your profile and editing it. Type in a short
description of the picture. This will appear when someone rolls their mouse over the picture.
To upload an introductory video or audio, click the browse button. Find the file and click open.
Click the Submit Changes Button to upload your blog information.
After you have completed your profile and clicked on the Submit Changes Button, you will be taken to the main Control Center for your blog.
This is the area where you can make changes, add information, upload pictures, videos, check for messages, etc. To get
started setting up Your Blog, click on Create New Blog.
The Blog Settings dialog box will appear. Fill out the information requested for your blog. If you have any questions about
each line, roll your mouse over the  and a
text box will appear with an explanation.
Fill out the Above Form as follows:
Blog Title: Name Your Blog (The title of your blog)
Blog Category: Pick a category that best describes the subject of your blog from the
drop down menu. BlogByVideo has a directory of Blogs based upon categories. Your blog can also be reached by keyword
search.
Blog Visable To: choose who you want to be able to view your blog from the drop down menu. The choices are
All BlogByVideo Users, Anyone, or Only Friends.
Language: Choose your language from the drop down menu. This allows readers to see what language the blog is in.
Show Friends in Blog?: If you've added friends to your blog, do you want them to be displayed. Choose either
yes or no from the drop down menu.
Show Favorite Links in Blog?: - If you've added any favorite links to your blog, do you want them to be displayed.
Choose yes or no from the drop down menu.
Show Comments: Choose whether you want to display comments from others or not from the drop down
menu.
Accept Comments From: You have the choice of accepting comments from Anyone, BlogByVideo Users or Only Friends. Make
your choice from the drop down menu.
Notify New Comment: If you want to be notified by email anytime someone adds a new comment to your blog, choose
yes from the drop down menu and include your email address.
Archive Frequency: If you would like to archive your blogs, choose the frequency from the drop down menu of either daily,
weekly, or monthly. If you do not want to archive your blog, choose no.
Create RSS Feed: If you want to create an RSS Feed of your blog, choose RSS 2.0 otherwise choose No RSS Required.
Clicking on Add Blog Entry brings up the next screen. To add a blog entry, type in the subject title, the blog text and if you want to add an image,
click the browse button and find the image you want to upload, then type a brief description of the image. If you want to add an audio or video file,
click on the browse button, find the file and click upload. Then type a brief description of the media file. The final step to complete the
new blog entry is to click the Add Entry Button.
Stay in touch with friends, meet new bloggers, friends and network with other bloggers by adding them to your Friends.
It's fast and easy to add friends. Just Click on Add Friends and you'll see the following screen. Fill our the friends BlogByVideo user name
or their email address. Add as many as you want.
You can delete existing friends by from your list by clicking on the down arrow, highlighting the name and clicking the Delete Friend(s) button.
Blog Style To set up the appearance of your Blog, click on Blog Style. The following screen will appear. You can change the
type style, size and color for the header, subject line, content text, links, etc. You can also change the way you want the blog to appear,
with the navigation bar on the left or the right. You can also change the background color for any of the different areas of the blog.
To change the type style use the drop down box and select the style. To change the size of the text, use the drop down box and select the size.
To change the color of your background, text, links, etc., click on the little color icon. This will bring up the color palette. You can
choose the color by rolling your mouse over the color, this brings up the hex code (number to make your color appear on you blog). Once you've decided on the color click on
it the color code will be filled in on the Blog Style Sheet. You will need to do this everywhere you want to change the color or appearance of the
text on your blog. If you don't want to set the style, your Blog will appear using the default one.
The following is a sample Blog. On this Blog the user uploaded a picture as well as a video. To view the video, click on the
video icon. There are also four Blog Entries, one video entry, one audio entry, one entry with a picture and a text only entry. To play
either the audio or video entry, click on the icon and it will begin playing on your screen.
Messaging From the Control Center you can read messages sent to you from other Bloggers, depending on the
settings in your Blog Setup. Bloggers can send messages to you by clicking on Send Message: under the about me box on your blog, or when
adding a comment to your blog. To view messages click on Unread Messages.
A new dialog box will open. Type in your message, you can also add a picture, audio or video file to your message. After
finished with the message, click Add Message. The message will be delivered to the receipent's incoming message box. The next time
the reciepent logs into their blog the Control Panel will show Unread Messages (1).
